Pearl River County SPCA Launches Monthly Giving Campaign to Secure Future of No-Kill Shelter

Picayune, MS — Pearl River County SPCA (PRCSPCA), a vital lifeline for homeless and neglected animals in the region, has officially launched a long-term fundraising campaign to recruit 1,000 monthly donors. This initiative—born from necessity—aims to sustain the shelter’s lifesaving work amid rising operational costs, slowed adoptions, and decreased revenue from its supporting thrift store.

The shelter is asking supporters to commit to just $20 a month—less than the cost of a streaming subscription—to help bridge a widening financial gap that could reach $200,000 by year’s end if current trends continue. That recurring support ensures that PRCSPCA can maintain its no-kill status while continuing to provide high-quality veterinary care, food, and housing to hundreds of animals every year.

“Monthly giving is the backbone of our ability to save lives and say ‘No More Homeless Pets’ in Pearl River County,” said Lauren Fitts, President of Pearl River County SPCA. “Many people don’t realize that national organizations like ASPCA and HSUS do not fund local shelters like ours. Despite the similarities in our names, your monthly donations to PRCSPCA stay right here—supporting the animals, programs, and families in our own community. Consistent support from our neighbors is what keeps our doors open, our kennels clean, and our mission moving forward.”

Those who sign up to become monthly donors will be recognized on the shelter’s website, and updates will be shared via social media and email throughout the campaign. The organization is also launching a series of heartwarming video stories, behind-the-scenes footage, and progress graphics to show supporters exactly how their donations are making an impact.

Signing up takes less than two minutes at www.prcspca.org. Donors do not need a PayPal account—just a debit or credit card. Every monthly contribution is tax-deductible.
