Read about our new program....

Foster homes are needed for puppies for 2 to 3 weeks.   We have a program to save the lives of  puppies. The program requires the puppies reside outside of the shelter environment until they have their first set of puppy shots.  Call or email to Volunteer as a Foster Parent.  The puppies are guaranteed to be adopted after having been fostered!

Puppy Rescue Program

(Puppies Across America)

Happily some parts of the county have very successful spay/neuter programs and humane animal regulations.  As a result, they do not have enough puppies available for adoption from their shelters to meet the requests that they get. This is very good news for Pearl River County puppies!

Groups in the Northeast have raised money to fly qualified puppies from across America to their location. Our Shelter was invited to join their program. We need to be able to be sure that our puppies are healthy when we send them on their way.  In order to do this we need to provide our candidate puppies a home outside the shelter for long enough to get their first set of puppy shots.  This normally takes 2 to 3 weeks.  We are eagerly looking for volunteers to foster puppies for this time period.  You get to enjoy the antics of a puppy or two for a short time and know that they will be going to a loving home when they leave your care.  The SPCA will pay for the puppy shots and can pay for the food and other expenses as well.  We are also looking for help in getting them to the airport on travel day.

Please consider doing a small thing that plays a big part in helping to provide homes for unwanted puppies from Pearl River County.

FOSTERS NEEDED!! All adopted within 48 hours of arrival!!!

January: - 1/31 - 10 puppies made this trip.  Winter storms were predicted in Boston but held off long enough for our babies to get to the shelter. The shelter says weather (ice and snow) kept people away on day of arrival (Thursday), but they think this is the cutest group yet! Check out their pictures and see if you agree.  All adopted by Sunday! 01/17 - We have 14 babies scheduled to make this trip and the weather looks great. 10 actually went as 3 developed medical problems and 1 was held back to keep it even. All adopted in 48 hours!

See their pictures.

They went to Indianapolis, and got diverted to Philadelphia on the way to Boston. The Shelter drove down to pick them up and they finally arrived in Massachusetts 5 days later than planned.
